International Man Of Mystery – Guess Where In The World Is Jack?

Jan 19, 11 International Man Of Mystery – Guess Where In The World Is Jack?

International Men of Mystery

Austin Powers + Matt Lauer + PLD2 = ?

What do Matt Lauer, Austin Powers and a Leadership Program have in common?  Read on to learn more and check back tomorrow night at roughly 10:30pm when I update my status with my international mystery destination!  But in the mean time, here is the background and I would love to hear your guess as to where I am going.

One of my favorite weeks on the Today Show is when they play ‘Where In The World Is Matt Lauer‘.  One week a year, Matt Lauer takes a leave from 1 Rockefeleler Plaza where the show is filmed to jet across the world and each day he turns up in a different place.   And of course, I love the humor of Austin Powers and his title of ‘International Man Of Mystery’ and I promise not to return with one of these…

Quartermaster Clerk: One Swedish-made penis enlarger.
Austin Powers: [to Vanessa] That’s not mine.
Quartermaster Clerk: One credit card receipt for Swedish-made penis enlarger signed by Austin Powers.
Austin Powers: I’m telling ya baby, that’s not mine.
Quartermaster Clerk: One warranty card for Swedish-made penis enlarger pump, filled out by Austin Powers.
Austin Powers: I don’t even know what this is! This sort of thing ain’t my bag, baby.
Quartermaster Clerk: One book, “Swedish-made Penis Enlargers And Me: This Sort of Thing Is My Bag Baby”, by Austin Powers.

Well these concepts all come together in a Financial Leadership Program I am participating in via PSI Seminars called Pace Setter Leadership Dynamics II (a.k.a PLD2).  Big title huh? :-)

The program is 9 years old in Phoenix and we are at the end of the 90-day program.  While in the class, we set net worth goals, income goals, wealth goals, self-esteem goals and contribution goals.  It’s all about how to become wealthy and make a positive difference in the world and it has been an unbelievable 90 days. As the grand finale to the program, you leave the country on a 10-day trip.  However, they don’t tell you where you are going until you arrive at the airport that night!  So tomorrow night, Wednesday, January 19th at roughly 10:30pm our group of 22 PLD2 students will be told where we are going for the next 10 days!  Pretty cool huh?

On the trip there will be some fun, some celebration of all that we have accomplished and a service project.  To get an idea of what kind of impact we get to make, here is a video from the 2009 class.  It gives me goose bumps every time I watch it.

Now, we do know a few things as they give us a packing list so we have an idea of what to pack.  Here are the ‘clues’ as to what we need.

Temperature – 3 days in the 60′s and the rest of the time in the 80′s and I believe we’ll connect somewhere. We were instructed to bring a bathing suit, scuba and golf gear if we have it, bug spray with deet and sunscreen.

So do you have any guesses on where I will land?  Leave your guesses in the comments and the winner can join me for happy hour when I return and I’ll entertain you with photos and stories about the adventure!

PS – I’ll also update my Facebook and Twitter accounts as soon as I know where we are going.

I am not sure where you are going but it sounds like my kind of place. Sun, golf, dive gear… I'm not big on the bug spray idea but I am willing to bet the place is going to be awesome.

If I guess South America can I be entered in the contest? :)

The video is awesome! Congrats on completing the program, it's obviously a GREAT experience!
