100 Days In The Life Of JackAlert…
So, in addition to the Mental Detox Challenge that I blogged about yesterday being a perfect example of finding out about cool things through social media, The 100 Days In The Life Of Me is another one of those examples. This challenge shall now be known by my official #hashtag for it which is #100DLOM. For the Facebook people in the audience who are not familiar with #hashtags, learn more here.
The challenge comes from another good friend, Lisa Schoneberger who is absolutely hilarious who is about 20 days ahead of me in the challenge. (If you are not friends with Lisa on Facebook, it is worth it, just to read the commentary she has posted with her photos!) Here is more about the challenge from Shelly’s Blog where she give’s this little description…
So I thought this would be a fun little side project to do in between all the the adventures that take place in my everyday life….something to keep me grounded for at least the next 100 days.
I agree with her and thought it would be a fun thing to add into my mental detox. I have always loved taking photos and have not done it for a while and thought this would be a good way to get back into it.
The thing I love most about photography is that it causes me to always look for the good in nature, people and everything around me. When I am carrying a camera, I am always on the lookout for a beautiful setting in nature that I had not noticed before, or that one unique expression that makes a person ‘them’ or marveling at how different people and objects can look in different lighting. I find that I am more present and aware when I am carrying my camera. It’s not the same with my cell phone camera – at least not yet, but it’s getting there and I find myself taking more and more photos because of it and that, in my opinion, is a good thing.
So with that said, here is what you have to look forward to from me in the next 100 days.

Day 1 is me doing dog tricks with my Samoas. It was late, I needed a photo and I was eating cookies and Zorro was wanting one as well. So that is how this photo came about.
Day 2 – A photo that makes me happy. Two of my favorite things in this world are my friends and my boat. Although I have almost sunk it, run it ashore, lit it on fire and a host of other crazy incidents, I rarely have a bad time on the boat and I think that is because I always have amazing friends with me on the boat. And this particular day was no different.
It was a Saturday and we got up early in the morning to drive a little over 2 hours from Seattle to Vantage where we were going to meet some additional friends. The agenda was to spend the late morning/afternoon boating and then pull the boat out of the water and see Sting perform live at the Gorge at George Amphitheater. Well, when we got there, Mother Nature wasn’t cooperating and it was raining. The good news was that only lasted about 30 minutes, the sun broke and the day was in the high 80s. We played on the river all day and then headed to the campgrounds to get ready for the show – which included a Jello shot or two as well. The day was amazing, the river was perfect, the concert was unforgettable and it has ever since been one of my favorite memories that is captured in this photo.
As I was working to find a photo for this post, I felt so lucky to have so many photos which made me happy and brought back wonderful memories – truly blessed.
